Dorien

Dorien was the Second mortal to be chosen by Destiny, Master of Time, to become a Guardian.

Tall and powerful, with blazing copper read hair and deep umber eyes, his commitment to duty is unwavering. He is Guardian of the Land, protecting the harsh lands of the Mountain Realm, and the hard, tough Tylonians that reside there.

Dorien carries the legendary Sword of Starlight, which possess the power of the stars. The fabled weapon was given to him during his life as a mortal over millennium ago. It stayed with him as he transformed, and the mystery behind the blade's true nature is slowly revealed over the trilogy.

His quest is to find the woman who will become the Third Guardian, for only she can unlock the power within the Stone of Souls and free Asteria from decades of drought. As he travels the Mortal Realm with his guide, the vivacious Seer Faun, and memories from his previous life return, and he grows to understand what it really means to be mortal...

Karalene

As a young Tylonian woman, Karalene fled her homeland because of a forced marriage, and was guided into Hunter's life by the subtle hands of Destiny. The silver streaks in her long auburn hair are a telltale sign that she has been touched by the Master of Time. She now accompanies Hunter as his faithful travelling companion as they search the Sun Realm for information on the pending war.

A strong fighter with her Irian blade, she is determined, quick and loyal. As they travel, Hunter instructs her in the hand-to-hand combat technique of Zhan-doha. With nowhere else to go, and steadfast in her friendship, she chooses to join Hunter as he guides Alora to the Greenwood. Initially suspicious of the Guardian, she slowly warms to her, and three travellers navigate the perils of the journey while being nourished by Karalene's questionable cooking.
